Investment in Growth and Innovation

As part of its broader strategy to increase manufacturing capabilities and production capacity, BKT has invested a substantial Rs 3 billion (approximately £27.7 million) in the new mould plant. This investment aligns with the company’s continuous push to modernise its facilities, ensuring they are equipped with the latest technology and automation to enhance quality and efficiency.

Strategic Upgrades at Bhuj

Since its establishment in 2012, the Bhuj plant has been a cornerstone of BKT’s growth strategy. The facility, which spans 123 hectares, has seen several phases of upgrades and expansions:

  • 2012: The Bhuj plant commenced operations.
  • 2018: BKT announced a capital expenditure plan for both the Waluj and Bhuj plants.
  • 2020: Completion of Phase 2 at Bhuj, making the plant self-reliant in carbon black production.

These strategic improvements have positioned the Bhuj plant as a key player in BKT’s manufacturing network, boosting its ability to meet increasing demand.

Enhancing Production Capacity

The completion of the new mould plant is expected to significantly enhance BKT’s production capabilities. As of early 2022, BKT’s overall achievable capacity stood at approximately 285,000 MT per annum. With the new plant operational, the company aims to increase this capacity to 360,000 MT per annum by the end of the financial year 2023.

Supporting Global Expansion

BKT’s continuous investments in its Bhuj facility underscore its commitment to maintaining its status as India's largest off-highway tyre manufacturer. With products sold in over 160 countries, these developments are crucial to supporting BKT's global expansion efforts and reinforcing its market position.

By enhancing production capabilities and implementing state-of-the-art technology, BKT is well-positioned to meet the growing demands of the off-highway tyre market. The new mould plant at Bhuj not only represents a significant financial investment but also a commitment to innovation and quality that will drive the company’s growth in the years to come.
