AA Tyres Joins TyreSafe to Drive Greater Awareness of Tyre Safety

AA Tyres, the newly launched mobile tyre fitting division of the Automobile Association (AA), has joined TyreSafe, marking a major step forward in promoting tyre safety across the UK. As part of Britain’s largest breakdown service provider, this partnership is expected to bring heightened awareness to tyre maintenance and road safety among the UK’s drivers.

Tyre-related issues account for around 15% of the AA’s annual breakdowns, equating to over half a million incidents a year. The new collaboration aims to tackle this concerning statistic through expanded tyre safety education and resources.

“TyreSafe is delighted to welcome the AA and its mobile tyre fitting business, AA Tyres, to its membership,” said Stuart Jackson, chairman of TyreSafe. “Breakdown recovery services deal with the majority of tyre-related incidents on our roads, which are more often than not caused by a lack of proper maintenance and checks by the driver. With the support of the AA, TyreSafe will be able to reach a broader audience with tyre safety education.”

With over 110 years of experience and a massive presence in the roadside assistance sector, the AA addresses approximately 10,000 breakdowns a day—one every nine seconds. Earlier this year, it launched AA Tyres to offer convenient mobile tyre repair and replacement services for both members and non-members, available at their preferred locations, whether at home or work.

David Bruce, Director of AA Tyres, stated, “Membership of TyreSafe underlines our own commitment and advice to members about tyre care and staying safe on Britain’s roads. Tyre problems account for the second most frequent reason for members to call the AA. With around half of all new cars no longer carrying a spare, routine checking of tyre pressure and condition is more important than ever.”

AA Tyres’ membership in TyreSafe will allow the organisation and its members access to TyreSafe’s resources, which include participation in national safety campaigns and initiatives aimed at educating drivers on the importance of tyre care. The AA’s vast network, including 14 million members and 2,600 driving instructors, is set to play a key role in supporting TyreSafe’s mission to reduce tyre-related accidents on Britain’s roads.
