The Original Equipment Suppliers Aftermarket Association (OESAA) has announced it will cease operations at the end of 2024, marking the conclusion of a remarkable 11-year journey. Established in 2013, OESAA set out to highlight the discrepancies in the quality of parts in the aftermarket sector, a mission that evolved over the years into supporting independent workshops, technicians, and aspiring automotive professionals.

Achievements that Defined OESAA’s Legacy

OESAA has been synonymous with industry-first initiatives, from impactful marketing campaigns to hands-on training events. Among its most popular contributions was the AutoInform series, which brought together industry experts and OEM trainers to share insights on diagnostics, best practices, and vehicle technologies at GTG training centres in Wolverhampton and Glasgow.

A consistent presence at major trade events such as Automechanika UK and Mechanex, OESAA further cemented its role as a champion of quality in the aftermarket.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, OESAA took proactive steps to support independent workshops, distributing 3,000 ‘Back on Track’ packs to help businesses navigate the challenges of the lockdown. This was followed by 4,000 ‘We’ve Got You Covered’ packs, ensuring workshops had the tools needed to safely continue operations for key workers.

In recent years, OESAA has focused on inspiring and equipping the next generation of automotive professionals through its OESAA Academy Live roadshow, conducted at IMI-affiliated colleges across the UK. By connecting OEM suppliers with students, apprentices, and workshop owners, these events fostered invaluable skill-sharing and industry engagement.

A Message from the Chairman

Reflecting on OESAA’s journey, Chairman Nigel Morgan expressed gratitude for the organisation's impact and the individuals who made it possible:

“We are immensely proud of the part OESAA played in elevating the standards of the industry, raising awareness about the benefits of OE-quality parts, and strengthening trust between suppliers, distributors and technicians.
“While OESAA will close, my hope is that our members will continue to independently advocate for premium solutions, support their customers and work in partnership with the next generation of automotive stars to ensure the aftermarket has a prosperous future.
“It has been a pleasure to work with so many talented groups of people and individuals. Without them, OESAA would not have made the impression it has, and I will be forever grateful to each and every one of them.”
