A United Approach to Tyre Safety

Through this new partnership, TyreSafe's resources will be integrated into NDORS courses, enabling drivers to better understand the importance of tyre maintenance. As part of this initiative, drivers will be educated on the dangers of poorly maintained or illegal tyres, an often-overlooked aspect of road safety. This collaboration aligns with October's Tyre Safety Month, an annual campaign by TyreSafe dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of regular tyre checks.

Stuart Lovatt, Chair of TyreSafe, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are delighted to welcome UKROEd as an official supporter of TyreSafe. Their role in delivering driver education through NDORS aligns perfectly with our mission to raise awareness of tyre safety. Together, we can make a real difference by reducing tyre-related incidents and ensuring that drivers are equipped with the knowledge they need to keep themselves and others safe on the road.”

Educating Drivers on Tyre Maintenance

The UKROEd partnership with TyreSafe aims to instill proactive habits among drivers. Courses under the NDORS scheme will now include TyreSafe’s resources to educate drivers on the importance of tyre checks and the consequences of neglect. According to Ruth Purdie OBE, UKROEd’s Chief Executive, “Checking the pressure, condition and tread of all your tyres once a month, every month and before a long journey is excellent advice. If you don’t know what to look for in a safe tyre, then do consult the tyresafe.org website which has plenty of useful information that will help you keep your tyres in the best possible condition as well as assist in identifying potentially dangerous defects.”

By incorporating TyreSafe’s materials, UKROEd is ensuring that NDORS course participants not only become aware of tyre safety but also understand the vital role tyres play in road safety. Tyres that are under-inflated, have worn tread, or are otherwise in poor condition can lead to accidents, and the risks are heightened by the UK's seasonal weather conditions.

Working Together to Make UK Roads Safer

With UKROEd’s extensive reach through NDORS and TyreSafe’s expertise in tyre safety, the partnership is poised to make a significant impact. Both organisations share the goal of reducing tyre-related incidents and improving the overall safety of UK roads. This timely initiative, launched during Tyre Safety Month, will encourage drivers across the country to adopt safer practices when it comes to vehicle maintenance.
