TVS Srichakra’s latest innovation is aimed at significantly improving fuel efficiency by reducing tyre rolling resistance. Within the next six to twelve months, the company expects to cut rolling resistance by an additional 10% from current benchmark levels. This improvement could potentially extend the range of electric vehicles by around 10%, a significant enhancement for EV owners who are always looking to maximise range.
In line with this effort, TVS Srichakra is also expanding its product range. The company currently offers 250 tyre models, including approximately 12 specifically designed for the EV segment. These EV tyres are engineered to meet the unique demands of electric vehicles, including improved energy efficiency and durability. Over the past three years, the manufacturer has introduced 45 new products in the premium and super-premium categories, demonstrating its commitment to innovation and market leadership.
TVS Srichakra operates two large-scale manufacturing facilities in India, located in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, and Rudrapur, Uttarakhand. Together, these plants have the capacity to produce three million tyres each month, reflecting the company’s strong production capabilities. Although TVS Srichakra primarily focuses on the domestic Indian market, 7% to 8% of its total production is exported to 90 countries, highlighting the company’s international reach.
With the Indian electric vehicle market on the rise, the development of next-generation EV tyres from TVS Srichakra comes at a critical time. By focusing on reducing rolling resistance and improving energy efficiency, the new Eurogrip EV-specific tyres will help enhance the performance of electric vehicles, offering improved range and reduced energy consumption. This could make electric vehicles even more appealing to Indian consumers as the country moves toward more sustainable transportation options.
The tyre’s ability to increase EV range by up to 10% could significantly influence both consumer satisfaction and the wider adoption of electric vehicles, making them a more viable option for long-distance travel.
As the demand for electric vehicles continues to rise, TVS Srichakra’s innovations in tyre technology are well-positioned to meet the growing needs of this evolving market. By offering products that address specific EV challenges, such as range anxiety and energy efficiency, the company is set to play a key role in the future of electric mobility in India and beyond
