The GDSO, established in January 2022, is an international non-profit dedicated to the standardisation and sharing of tyre data across the automotive sector. It serves as a platform for tyre manufacturers and other stakeholders to access sector-specific data systems, which promotes more efficient and secure data exchange. The GDSO’s infrastructure operates through a specialised dataspace that allows members to share and utilise tyre data effectively, using a secure digital connector.
Hankook’s participation in the GDSO aligns with the company’s broader digital strategy, aimed at delivering reliable and accurate data to improve efficiencies across the tyre value chain. Klaus Krause, Vice President and Head of the Europe Technical Center at Hankook, commented on the membership: “With our full membership of the GDSO, we want to make our contribution to the organisation’s goal of setting new standards for the efficient processing of tyre data in the digital age. This includes providing reliable and accurate data for the tyre dataspace.”
Riccardo Giovannotti, Secretary General of GDSO, welcomed Hankook’s involvement, emphasising the manufacturer’s role in driving sector-wide advancements: “With Hankook, the GDSO has gained another strong partner that is committed to digitalisation and sustainability in the sector. Together, we will work to improve the standards in the area of data processing and to develop future-oriented solutions.”
The GDSO has quickly become a central player in the tyre and automotive component sector by promoting the adoption of universal data standards. Its mission involves:
As more tyre manufacturers adopt these data-sharing protocols, the industry can expect improved efficiencies and greater innovation, benefitting stakeholders across the entire tyre value chain.
