In response to growing industry demands for environmentally conscious products, Goodyear’s EQMAX and EQMAX ULTRA tyres are crafted using up to 55% sustainable materials. This innovation includes the use of Rice Husk Ash (RHA)-based silica, marking a significant step in reducing reliance on traditional raw materials.
The introduction of this range comes at a crucial time, with increasing pressure on transportation fleets to meet stricter emission standards. According to Xavier Fraipont, Vice President Commercial EMEA at Goodyear, “The launch of the Goodyear EQMAX and EQMAX ULTRA tyre range represents a significant step forward in our commitment to support our customers in their sustainability journey while providing improved performance. These new tyres are not just built for today’s needs but are designed with the future in mind, offering versatility and efficiency across a wide range of applications.”
The EQMAX and EQMAX ULTRA tyres offer more than just sustainability. With a new tread compound incorporating a higher silica content, they deliver up to 20% better mileage and up to 6% improved rolling resistance compared to their predecessors. The high abrasion-resistant tread helps reduce wear and heat generation, which in turn enhances mileage, durability, and fuel efficiency.
The tyres also feature advanced carcass compounds designed to lower internal heat generation, further reducing rolling resistance and promoting longevity. The EQMAX and EQMAX ULTRA ranges aim to provide reliable, cost-effective performance for fleet operators, making them a wise investment in both sustainability and operational efficiency.
A key feature of the new tyre range is that it is designed to be Electric Drive Ready. With the transportation sector increasingly turning to electric, hydrogen, and other alternative powertrains, the EQMAX and EQMAX ULTRA tyres cater to a wide variety of drivetrains, including diesel and gas, offering a one-size-fits-all solution.
Goodyear has also equipped the new tyres with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, allowing individual tyres to communicate with cloud networks for seamless tyre flow management and enhanced fleet operations.
The Goodyear EQMAX and EQMAX ULTRA ranges are designed for different applications. The EQMAX range, featuring EQMAX S and EQMAX D, provides versatile and balanced performance across highways and secondary roads. The ULTRA range takes sustainability a step further, offering maximum fuel efficiency and reduced CO2 emissions, with its EQMAX S ULTRA, EQMAX D ULTRA, and EQMAX T ULTRA variants.
All sizes and positions of the EQMAX ULTRA range will carry an "A" label for fuel efficiency, reflecting Goodyear’s commitment to reducing fuel consumption and emissions without compromising performance.
Goodyear will be showcasing the EQMAX and EQMAX ULTRA tyre ranges at their exhibition in Hall 21, Stand B38, during the IAA Transportation 2024 event. Visitors can learn more about how these innovative tyres can help optimise fleet operations, reduce emissions, and enhance fuel efficiency.
