Continental Unveils CasingManager App to Streamline Casing Management

Continental expands its ContiLifeCycle offering and strengthens retreading activities with new app

Continental has introduced a significant enhancement to its casing management service with the launch of the CasingManager app (CMA). Designed to streamline and digitalise the casing management process, the new app allows retailers to register casings swiftly, eliminating manual recording errors and expediting collection. This innovative tool is part of Continental's broader ContiLifeCycle initiative, aimed at promoting tyre reuse and extending tyre lifespan within the commercial vehicle segment.

Rafael Martinez, Head of Fleet Solutions Deutschland, stated, “With the new app for the European market, which we are launching in Germany as a pilot project, we are strengthening our ContiLifeCycle offering and retreading activities in the commercial vehicle segment.”

Key Features of the CasingManager App

The CasingManager app revolutionises how retailers handle used casings. By simply scanning the casing’s serial number, crucial data such as the barcode number, size, and DOT number are instantly transferred, significantly reducing the time and errors associated with manual entries. Once scanned, the app generates a collection order, automatically notifying the service provider. This streamlined process ensures that the collection service receives a combined order for all casings at the end of the day.

Enhanced Digital Process Management

The app not only simplifies the registration and collection of casings but also integrates with the retailer’s ContiCasingAccount. This feature allows retailers to "pay in" used casings from their truck customers and receive credit in return, further incentivising the use of the app and the retreading process.

Jan-Ole van Lengen, Head of ContiLifeCycle Germany, highlighted the app's benefits: “The new app from Continental increases the prominence of retreading in the commercial vehicle segment by providing a range of benefits that facilitate the casing management process. Replacing the manual input system saves time and avoids data recording errors. Thanks to the fully digitalised collection process, it will be possible to collect the tyres directly from the end user in future. The CasingManager app therefore also represents another new service offering for end users, and this promises to increase acceptance of retreading.”

Sustainability Through Circular Economy

The ContiLifeCycle concept, encompassing fuel-saving and retreadable new tyres as well as comprehensive casing management, underscores Continental's commitment to a sustainable circular economy. By recovering and reusing used tyres, substantial material savings are achieved, lowering operational costs and reducing the environmental impact. This initiative aligns with the growing trend of companies adopting sustainability targets and sustainable procurement methods.

The CasingManager app is poised to play a crucial role in this sustainable strategy, providing a competitive edge for transport companies through resource-efficient tyre purchasing. As the app launches in Germany, it sets the stage for broader adoption across Europe, marking a significant step forward in Continental's mission to promote tyre retreading and sustainability.
