Apollo Tyres, in collaboration with the National Automotive Test Tracks (NATRAX), has announced the launch of a new test track in India designed exclusively for evaluating tyres on electric vehicles (EVs). This state-of-the-art facility is aimed at testing and validating the performance of low rolling resistance tyres, which are crucial for the efficiency and durability of EVs.
The test track, a first in India for such specific purposes, will enable EV manufacturers to thoroughly assess the cut and chip resistance of tyres. This type of resistance is vital for EVs due to their distinctive design features, such as regenerative braking and high-speed acceleration capabilities. Additionally, the track will support the evaluation of fuel-efficient tyres under the Star label programme, further enhancing its utility.
