Linglong Tire has unveiled its latest innovation, the Grip Master Winter, a new winter tyre targeting the High and Ultra High Performance segments. This new offering is designed for a wide range of vehicles, from compact cars to luxury sedans, and is now available in an impressive 70 sizes.
The Grip Master Winter succeeds the popular Green-Max Winter UHP and Green-Max Winter HP models, bringing enhanced features that make it a standout choice for winter driving. According to Linglong Tire, the Grip Master Winter offers improved wet and dry performance, along with slight optimisations in snow performance and an increase in mileage. These enhancements make the Grip Master Winter not just a safer tyre for winter conditions but also a more economical choice over its predecessors.
Wolf Fuder, Marketing Manager at Linglong Germany GmbH, highlighted the significance of this new release:
"The main requirements for the new Grip Master Winter were to improve wet performance and optimise driving characteristics in the dry with overall better environmental properties compared to the two predecessor treads Green-Max Winter UHP and HP," Fuder said. "Developing such a balanced winter tyre that performs optimally in wet, dry and snow conditions was a major challenge for the Linglong development team, especially as the mileage had to be further increased and the rolling resistance also had to be further optimised. The Linglong Grip Master Winter is the best and most powerful winter tyre ever built by Linglong Tire."
The Grip Master Winter features a directional V-shaped tread pattern, which is complemented by stable, interlocking tread blocks that ensure excellent driving stability. The tyre’s wide, multi-tiered grooves are designed to effectively divert water or slush, reducing the risk of aquaplaning and enhancing safety in wet conditions.
In addition, the tyre’s newly developed polymer-silica composite compound offers high elasticity at low temperatures, ensuring solid contact with the road surface. This results in reliable handling and short braking distances, even in the most challenging winter conditions. The tyre’s 3D sipes and improved tread stiffness further contribute to its precise handling and stability, making it an ideal choice for drivers seeking both safety and performance.
For dry conditions, the Grip Master Winter’s newly developed tread compound and carcass construction deliver improved handling and shorter braking distances. The three-dimensional sipes enhance cornering stability and steering precision, providing a high level of dry grip. Additionally, the optimised block arrangement reduces noise emissions, contributing to a quieter and more comfortable ride.
Linglong Tire has also paid special attention to the economic and environmental aspects of the Grip Master Winter. The use of full silica compounds, typically a trade-off with tyre mileage, has been balanced with a new material mix based on natural resins. This combination reduces abrasion and increases braking effectiveness, while also lowering rolling resistance. As a result, the Grip Master Winter offers high mileage, making it an economical choice for consumers.
The tyre is also visually appealing, thanks to its modern sidewall design, which adds a dynamic look even when the vehicle is stationary.
The Grip Master Winter was primarily developed at Linglong's European development centre in Hanover, with extensive testing conducted across Europe and China. The tyre underwent rigorous testing on the European test track in Idiada, Spain, and the Sino Asia test site in China. Winter performance was specifically tested in Ivalo, Finland, ensuring that the Grip Master Winter meets the highest standards for winter tyres.
The Grip Master Winter is now available in 70 sizes, ranging from 14 to 20 inches, with cross-sections of 35 to 75 and tread widths of 165 to 315 mm. The tyre covers speed ratings from T to W, catering to a wide range of vehicles. Linglong Tire has announced that 30 more sizes will be added next year, further expanding the options available to consumers.
This new tyre rounds out the Linglong Master family, which includes the Sport Master, Sport Master e, Comfort Master, Grip Master C/S SUV, and Grip Master 4S all-season tyres.
