This latest fleet expansion is part of Kwik Fit’s broader investment strategy aimed at enhancing its mobile tyre fitting service. Recent months have seen the company not only increase the number of vehicles in its fleet but also expand its support team and infrastructure. To streamline operations and boost efficiency, Kwik Fit has developed new systems for ordering, scheduling, and supply, which are expected to increase capacity and reduce lead times.
The first of the new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans have already entered operation, strategically placed across the UK to enhance service in areas with high demand and extend the company’s geographical coverage. While these new vehicles will grow the overall size of Kwik Fit’s mobile fleet, some will replace older vans from the current mix of Renault and Fiat vehicles as they are retired.
Each Kwik Fit mobile van is equipped with a full tyre fitting workshop, allowing the service to come directly to customers, whether they are fleet drivers or individual vehicle owners. The vans are being delivered through Mercedes-Benz Vans dealer Motus and are fitted out by Kwik Fit’s long-term partner, On Board Power Ltd. The choice of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter was influenced by its proven reliability and the comprehensive support network, which includes nighttime servicing to minimise downtime and maximise availability for customer service during the day.
Mark Wellings, Mobile Divisional Director at Kwik Fit, explained the rationale behind the expansion: “We are constantly working to provide the premium professional mobile tyre fitting service, and the recent growth in demand is testament to our success in doing that. Traditionally, mobile fitting has been geared towards fleet drivers, but we are seeing increasing numbers of retail customers opting for the convenience and flexibility of a service which comes to them.”
“Our fleet expansion is designed to meet the needs of all types of customers, enabling them to select a date and location to suit their own requirements. On the day of the fitting, a convenient two-hour window will be locked in and shared by SMS before 8 am, allowing customers to plan their day accordingly.”
The partnership with Mercedes-Benz Vans is pivotal to Kwik Fit’s fleet expansion.
