Two outstanding examples of ETB’s internal promotion strategy are Dean Joels and Kevin Pitt, who have both advanced through several roles during their time with the business.
Dean Joels, aged 37, began his journey with ETB as a driver. Over the years, he earned a series of promotions, working his way up to warehouse operator, assistant warehouse manager, warehouse manager, and now regional operations manager. During this time, he also gained a category 1 level instructor qualification in reach trucks and forklift operations.
Kevin Pitt, aged 42, has had a similarly inspiring journey. Starting out as a driver four years ago, he utilised company training to achieve a diploma in driving assessment, which helped him progress to his current role as wholesale warehouse manager in Worcester.
Reflecting on his career journey, Dean commented:
"I showed some ambition from an early stage and I was supported and encouraged to work my way up and gain the relevant qualifications, which ETB supported me with. I’ve been made to feel valued from the moment I arrived here and I’d encourage anyone in the industry to join us, as staff development is viewed as an essential part of the business."
Kevin echoed this sentiment, adding:
"There is a natural line of progression and once you have your foot on the first rung of the ladder, you can move forward in a number of ways, and we’re an example of this. We began life as drivers, but there is so much potential to evolve from there."
