Building on its extensive motorsports heritage, Bridgestone has developed three distinct tyre fitments for the Lamborghini Temerario. These include the Potenza Sport and Potenza Race tyres for summer and track performance, and the Blizzak LM005 tyre for winter conditions. Each tyre has been specifically tailored to meet the demanding requirements of Lamborghini's twin-turbo V8 hybrid powertrain with three electric motors, setting new standards for Hybrid High Performance Electrified Vehicles (HPEVs).
"After the Lamborghini Huracán STO, Tecnica, Sterrato, Huracán EVO, and the V12 Hybrid HPEV Lamborghini Revuelto, the Temerario is the latest Lamborghini super sportscar to be equipped with bespoke Bridgestone tyres as original equipment," said Steven De Bock, Vice President Original Equipment at Bridgestone EMEA. "Its twin-turbo V8 hybrid powertrain with three electric motors makes the Temerario part of a new generation of Hybrid HPEVs offering class-beating performance. As Lamborghini’s ‘Official Technical Partner’, we’re very excited to continue our journey together as we push the boundaries of electrification and advance a new era of sustainable motorsports.”
The Potenza Sport, Bridgestone’s ultra-high-performance tyre, is designed to enhance the Temerario’s capabilities on both dry and wet surfaces while ensuring high-speed stability. Notably, this tyre is available in a Run-Flat homologated version, providing drivers with the ability to maintain control and continue driving safely even after a puncture, up to 80km at speeds of 80km/h.
For track enthusiasts, Bridgestone has engineered the Potenza Race tyre. This race-focused tyre offers unparalleled grip and handling, making the most of the Temerario's ability to reach 10,000rpm – a first for a production super sportscar engine. The tyre’s compound, originally developed for track use, has been adapted for road applications, ensuring long-lasting performance.
To complete the line-up, Bridgestone’s Blizzak LM005 winter tyre has been customised for the Temerario, allowing the supercar to maintain its exceptional performance even in extreme winter conditions. The multi-award-winning Blizzak tyre has been re-engineered to meet the specific demands of Lamborghini’s hybrid system, ensuring optimal traction and safety in cold weather.
All three tyre models were developed using Bridgestone’s proprietary Virtual Tyre Development (VTD) technology. This cutting-edge process significantly enhances the efficiency and sustainability of tyre development. By using VTD, Bridgestone eliminated the need for approximately 200 physical prototypes, reduced physical vehicle tests by 80%, and cut development time by up to 50%. Additionally, this technology leads to a reduction of up to 60% in raw material consumption and CO2 emissions during the development phase.
Cristian Mastro, Marketing Director at Lamborghini, expressed his enthusiasm about the continued partnership: “The Temerario is a new benchmark in the super sportscar segment, offering the highest levels of performance and comfort, and Bridgestone is the perfect partner to help us maximise its potential. Over the years we’ve forged a brilliant partnership that’s broken boundaries again and again. Now, as we journey forward into the electric path, our collaboration is only growing stronger while continuing to deliver on its promises.”
The Lamborghini Temerario, scheduled for launch in 2025, will be equipped with these custom-engineered Bridgestone tyres in eight different sizes, ranging from 20” to 21”. All tyres will be manufactured in Europe, further solidifying the partnership between these two industry giants.
