The newly certified facilities in Cubatão and Camaçari, Brazil; Tiszaújváros, Hungary; and Alexandria, Egypt, join the ranks of other Birla Carbon plants in the USA, South Korea, India, and Italy, which received their ISCC PLUS certifications earlier this year. The ISCC PLUS certification is an internationally recognised standard for sustainable and traceable raw materials, reinforcing Birla Carbon’s dedication to responsible manufacturing practices.

John Loudermilk, President and CEO of Birla Carbon, expressed his enthusiasm for the recent certifications. “We are delighted to announce that our plants in Brazil, Hungary, and Egypt have achieved ISCC PLUS certification, representing a significant milestone in our sustainability journey. This accomplishment underscores our dedication to environmental stewardship and circularity through the provision of advanced products. This achievement reflects the collective efforts of our teams globally, driving us closer to our vision of a world where carbon solutions lead the way to a brighter, greener tomorrow.”

The certification process for Birla Carbon's remaining plants is expected to be completed by the end of 2024. These certifications are pivotal in Birla Carbon's broader strategy to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050, showcasing their commitment to sustainable development and innovation in the carbon black industry.
