TyreSafe, the UK’s leading road safety charity dedicated to promoting tyre awareness, has launched its ‘Love Your Tyres’ campaign this February. Designed to be a light-hearted yet essential reminder, the campaign urges all road users to prioritise tyre maintenance—because nothing kills a romantic evening like a breakdown on the hard shoulder.
A recent survey by TyreSafe, conducted in partnership with the RAC, found that while three in five Brits splash out for Valentine's Day celebrations, only one in three (33%) drivers check their tyre tread at least once a month—the minimum recommended by safety experts.
The RAC has warned that neglecting regular tyre checks not only increases the risk of accidents and costly fines but also contributes to the staggering 50,000 breakdowns recorded annually on UK A-roads and motorways by National Highways. A flat tyre or loss of grip could put an untimely end to even the most carefully planned romantic evening.
As part of the ‘Love Your Tyres’ campaign, TyreSafe is encouraging all drivers to remember the simple ACT method to maintain tyre safety:
Expert Advice from TyreSafeStuart Lovatt, TyreSafe Chair, emphasised the importance of tyre safety, stating:
"Tyres are the only contact point between a vehicle and the road, yet they’re often overlooked. Our ‘Love Your Tyres’ campaign is a playful but timely reminder for road users to give their tyres the attention they deserve. By performing simple, regular checks, road users can help keep themselves, their passengers, and others safe while avoiding costly fines and breakdowns."Empowering Drivers with ResourcesTyreSafe has released a range of social media graphics and downloadable guides to help road users improve tyre safety awareness.
