Independent tyre wholesaler Oak Tyres has announced the latest results of its partnership with environmental platform Ecologi, revealing it has offset 7.4 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO₂e) emissions and contributed to the planting of more than 60,000 trees worldwide.
Timed with World Earth Day 2025, the update reflects Oak Tyres’ ongoing commitment to sustainability as a core part of its operational ethos. The company has been working with Ecologi for over four years to fund global projects aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and supporting climate resilience in developing regions.
Oak Tyres’ offsetting efforts are linked to impactful international initiatives. Among the projects it has helped fund are:
▪ The Ouarzazate solar power station in Morocco, one of the world’s largest concentrated solar energy plants, providing renewable electricity and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
▪ Distribution of fuel-efficient cookstoves in Kenya, designed to lower carbon emissions while improving indoor air quality and respiratory health in local communities.
According to Ecologi data, Oak Tyres’ total impact is equivalent to avoiding:
▪ 5,678 long-haul flights
▪ 22,200 square metres of sea ice melt
▪ 18.3 million miles driven in a petrol or diesel car
Peter Cross, Commercial Director at Oak Tyres, commented:
“Tyre brands must embrace sustainability not as a trend, but as a fundamental responsibility. Our well-established partnership with Ecologi has gone from strength to strength, as we aim to become a more climate-conscious and sustainable business. When we look back over the partnership, it is special to see what we have achieved together.”
Sustainability in wholesale: Climate action as a brand differentiator
Oak Tyres’ long-term environmental engagement signals a shift in how tyre wholesalers are contributing to sector-wide sustainability goals. While much of the tyre industry’s carbon footprint sits within manufacturing and logistics, the rise of offsetting, carbon tracking, and nature-based solutions among wholesalers and distributors is expanding the definition of environmental responsibility.
As tyre fleets and end-consumers increasingly demand transparency across the supply chain, actions like Oak Tyres’ Ecologi partnership offer a model for how non-manufacturing players can still drive measurable environmental change. This is especially relevant as emissions reporting regulations tighten and ESG criteria become part of supplier selection in the commercial tyre space.
