TyreSafe, the UK’s leading tyre safety charity, has announced a new partnership with the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) to enhance tyre safety awareness across commercial fleets. This collaboration is a significant step in promoting safer and more efficient fleet operations, integrating tyre safety guidance into FORS' widely recognised accreditation framework.

With over 4,700 accredited transport operators, FORS promotes best practices in safety, efficiency, and sustainability. The new partnership with TyreSafe will support fleet managers and drivers in understanding how tyre maintenance can reduce accidents, enhance fuel efficiency, and ensure compliance with legal standards.

Why Tyre Safety Matters for Fleet Operators

Tyres play a critical role in vehicle safety and efficiency. For fleets, proper tyre management can:

Reduce the risk of tyre-related incidents
Improve fuel efficiency, lowering operational costs
Ensure compliance with road safety regulations
Minimise downtime caused by breakdowns

The integration of tyre safety into the FORS framework will provide fleet operators with essential resources and training to make tyre checks a regular part of their operations.

Industry Leaders Endorse the Partnership

Stuart Lovatt, Chair of TyreSafe, emphasised the importance of tyre safety for fleet operators:

“Tyre safety is critical for every road user, and those driving for work face unique challenges that make regular tyre maintenance even more essential. Our partnership with FORS allows us to reach thousands of fleet operators with vital tyre safety messaging, helping to prevent incidents, reduce breakdowns, and ultimately save lives.”

Geraint Davies, FORS Concession Director, highlighted how this partnership aligns with FORS’ commitment to best practice:

“FORS is committed to raising operational standards across the fleet industry. Working with TyreSafe strengthens our efforts to ensure fleet operators are equipped with the best guidance on tyre maintenance, helping to drive safer and more efficient operations across the sector.”

Supporting Fleet Operators with Resources and Training

Through this collaboration, TyreSafe and FORS will provide fleet operators with:

📌 Tyre safety guides tailored for commercial fleets
📌 Best practice training to embed tyre maintenance into daily checks
📌 Compliance support to help operators meet legal and safety requirements
📌 Ongoing advice and resources to sustain high safety standards

By promoting routine tyre checks and proper maintenance, the partnership aims to reduce tyre-related incidents, contributing to a safer, more sustainable fleet industry in the UK.
