GTS, a family-owned business that has been at the forefront of Icelandic coach tours since 1969, is in the midst of integrating the in-motion wheel loss detection system into its fleet. This innovative system seamlessly integrates brake and hub temperature monitoring with an advanced tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

The technology's effectiveness is underscored by GTS Owner Tyrfingur Guðmundsson's enthusiastic testimony. "In just over a year, with the system in place on approximately 10 of our coaches, we've thwarted five potential wheel loss incidents that could have been both dangerous and financially taxing," Guðmundsson remarked. "The immediacy of the alerts sent to the drivers has been instrumental in allowing us to address and resolve issues safely, sans any mishap."

Had these incidents occurred, the ensuing damage might have been significant, both in terms of potential harm and financial repercussions.

Throughout its storied history, GTS has ferried countless customers across Iceland's diverse terrains. But like many transportation companies, it hasn't been immune to wheel loss incidents. This led the company to seek a reliable solution in the form of the Wheely-Safe system.

GTS chose Wheely-Safe's external TPMS sensors, which supplant the valve cap and synchronise automatically with an in-cab solar receiver. For optimum monitoring, these sensors are positioned alongside wheel loss sensors on every wheel, capable of gauging temperatures around the brakes and hubs. The implementation process was seamlessly handled by GTS's dedicated team of in-house mechanics.

Expounding on the system's multifaceted benefits, Guðmundsson added, "From a business perspective, it checks every box. Primarily, our passenger's safety is paramount. Additionally, the significant financial savings are undeniable. This system serves as a comprehensive solution, assuring us that all components of the wheel and tyre are functioning impeccably."
