ENSO Tyres Now Approved for LEVC TX Electrified Taxis

ENSO has been officially approved as a replacement tyre supplier for LEVC taxis, offering its TX1B tyre as an aftermarket solution for electric taxi fleets and individual taxi drivers across the UK.

ENSO’s TX1B tyre is the world’s first double ‘A’-rated, range-extending tyre designed specifically for the LEVC TX electrified taxi. With over 1,000 London taxis already fitted with the TX1B, drivers are benefitting from increased durability, enhanced safety, and reduced emissions – all while lowering their total cost of ownership.

Cutting Pollution and Extending Taxi Range

Designed specifically for electric vehicles, ENSO’s tyre technology reduces rolling resistance to improve efficiency while enhancing durability. This helps taxi drivers lower energy costs and maximise their earnings per mile.

Beyond performance improvements, ENSO is also tackling tyre pollution. Tyre wear is a major source of particulate matter (PM 2.5 and PM 10) pollution, contributing to over 9,000 tonnes of tyre dust in London every year. ENSO’s low-emission tyres aim to mitigate this environmental impact by significantly reducing tyre wear.

Industry Leaders Endorse ENSO Tyres

Gunnlaugur Erlendsson, Founder and CEO of ENSO, emphasised the company’s mission:

“ENSO was created for one simple reason: to get as many low-emission tyres onto as many vehicles as possible, as quickly as possible. Our respect for the vital role that taxi drivers play in keeping our cities moving is demonstrated by the fact that we began our journey with them, helping them to improve tyre performance and save money while reducing their environmental impact. With our latest announcement that ENSO tyres are now officially LEVC-approved, we look forward to working alongside the taxi industry for thousands of miles to come.”

Chris McCoy, Technical Director at LEVC, highlighted the rigorous testing process behind ENSO’s approval:

“LEVC ensured there was a rigorous testing process for the ENSO TX1B tyre, which is now officially approved as an aftermarket solution for the zero-exhaust-emission-capable TX. Results from various controlled environment tests, including steering and handling, stability, ride quality, and NVH, along with real-world trials, demonstrated that this bespoke EV tyre is well suited to the TX, which was verified by third-party vehicle dynamics experts. For optimum performance, it’s always recommended that approved tyres are fitted.”
