Impressive Cost Savings and Efficiency Gains

Jaga Brothers, operating a fleet of 42 trucks and 130 trailers, has saved a substantial £35,000 in fuel costs and an additional £5,600 in tyre replacements. This financial boost comes as a direct result of their partnership with Michelin Connected Fleet, a division of the renowned tyre manufacturer.

James Hill, the managing director of Jaga Brothers, expressed his satisfaction with the results: “The Michelin Connected Fleet solutions have had a huge financial impact on our business. Our aim was for the service to start paying for itself in the first year and the figures so far have exceeded our expectations.”

Enhanced Driver Behaviour and Safety

The implementation of Michelin's technology has not only been about cost savings. A six-month analysis of vehicle data by Michelin consultants has led to improved driver behaviour, reducing harsh driving events and delivering fuel savings of 0.6mpg per vehicle.

“We have seen major improvements in driver behaviours such as harsh braking and harsh accelerating, which has increased fuel efficiency to the extent that we expect to save more than £50,000 in our first year of working with Michelin Connected Fleet,” added Hill.

Reduced Tyre Failures and Downtime

The company has also experienced a dramatic decrease in rapid tyre deflations, a common and costly issue in the haulage industry. “Since we started using Michelin Connected Fleet solutions, which quickly alert drivers to low tyre pressures, we have had only one rapid deflation. That’s an exceptional result, and over eight months it has saved us about £5,600 in tyre replacement costs,” Hill explained.

Future Plans and Additional Savings

Looking ahead, Jaga Brothers is set to embrace Michelin's brake testing technology, anticipated to save the business around £9,000 annually on brake maintenance. This addition is expected to further enhance the safety and efficiency of their fleet operations.

Michelin's Commitment to Fleet Efficiency

Gilson Santiago, CEO of Michelin Connected Fleet, commented on the partnership: “It’s great to see how Jaga Brothers is benefiting from our suite of connected fleet management tools, bespoke reporting and consultancy services. We are committed to helping customers run safer and more sustainable fleets.”
