Everton Ambassadors Graham Stuart and Ian Snodin, along with Davanti Tyres, spread festive cheer at two local NHS hospitals, bringing smiles and thanks to the hardworking staff.
The former Blues players, in partnership with the Club’s Official Tyre Partner, Davanti Tyres, visited Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust and Ormskirk General Hospital. Their mission was to express gratitude to the diligent nurses and staff, and they came bearing hundreds of delicious mince pies, a classic Christmas treat.
This thoughtful gesture was generously supported by Davanti Tyres, with the mince pies provided by Jasper’s (North West). Ashley Smith, the Social Media and Partnerships Manager at Davanti, emphasized the significance of this initiative. "It’s been fantastic to be involved in such a positive community project and show our gratitude for the hard work from all staff at these hospitals,” said Smith. He hoped that this small act would significantly demonstrate their appreciation.
The visit was warmly received at Liverpool Women’s Hospital. Gary Price, the Chief Operating Officer, expressed his gratitude for the recognition and the time spent by Everton’s ambassadors. “Community engagement is very important to us at Liverpool Women’s Hospital, so it is fantastic to see Everton visiting local hospitals as part of their community engagement work,” Price remarked.
After their time at Liverpool Women’s Hospital, the Everton team, acting as Santa’s little helpers, continued their journey 17 miles north to Ormskirk General Hospital. There, they brightened the day of the children in the paediatric ward. Shirley Coward, the Matron for Paediatric & Neonatal Services, who helped arrange the visit, shared the joy and appreciation felt by the staff and the children. “It was great to have a chat and a laugh with Ian and Graham and the staff and children who were fortunate to meet them really enjoyed it,” she said.
The visits by Stuart and Snodin reflect Everton’s commitment to community involvement and the club’s efforts to support and acknowledge the vital work of healthcare professionals, especially during the festive season. Such initiatives not only strengthen community ties but also bring a touch of warmth and joy to those who tirelessly serve the public, highlighting the importance of gratitude and giving back during the holiday season.
